A perfume that stinks.

Traditionally disgusting scents are packaged in an aesthetically pleasing way to comment on the societal trend of horrible products packaged in tidy elegant boxes to entice consumers.

Graphics created in Photoshop. Bottles rendered in Rhino.

The Insight:
Corporations are selling us junk.

The majority of our products are mass-produced, poorly-conceptualized objects. These products are often packaged in bright colors and elegant graphics to get people to buy them. And, unfortunately, it works.

The Idea:
Instead of trying to solve this problem, I created a satirical representation of it in perfume form.

I created four signature scents, each inspired by a real person (some dead some alive) who doesn’t fit conventional standards of beauty. Each scent’s notes are based on the person’s life and their story, which can all be read about in detail in the editorial I created for the brand.

The perfume bottle is shaped like a stick figure to indicate that each scent is inspired by a person. The cap of the bottle is the head, with each bottle’s color corresponding to the top note of that scent. For example, the Lady Zorro scent is a cyan color because the top note of that perfume is hair gel.
